Getting started

Everything you need for the first hour with Lumenet.

Install

Run the installer from the download page. It registers the Lumenet service (which does the watching and enforcing) and installs the app. No restart needed; the dashboard shows live traffic immediately.

Start in Learning mode

Learning mode allows everything and records everything. Give it a day or two of normal use — browse, work, play — so Lumenet sees your PC behaving normally.

Review the baseline

Open Learning baseline, search or select the apps you recognise, and choose Allow selected or Block selected. Apps that already have rules drop off the list automatically. When the list is empty, you are caught up.

Switch to Normal

From the mode selector, pick Normal. Existing rules run silently; only genuinely new connections prompt. Each prompt shows the app, its verified publisher, and the destination — answer once and it becomes a rule.

Everyday tips

  • Rules can target an app entirely, or narrow to a domain, network range, port, or country.
  • Profiles hold separate rule sets; bind one to Public networks for cafes and airports.
  • Lockdown is one click away for hostile networks: only allowed apps get out.
  • Time machine (top of the dashboard) rewinds every view to any point in your history.
  • Usage shows which apps consumed your data today, this week, or this month.
